About NYC ChapterNational Yacht Club (NYC) is located east of Ontario place, At the end on Stadium Road. That's one block west of Bathurst Street, south off Lakeshore Road - just South of the TipTop Tailors building. 1 Stadium Road NYC is a Chapter of the Disabled Sailing Association of Ontario (DSAO)
NYC embraces the mission of the DSAO, and with NYC's commitment to the sailing community as well as health and wellness of Toronto residents promoting eco-friendly sports for all. NYC joined the DSAO as a Chapter specifically to promote paralympic sailing through the 2.4mR sailboat. Why the 2.4mR?NYC promotes an inclusive environment. The 2.4mR sailboat was originally designed by Peter Norlin in 1983 as a single handed keelboat. Relatively quickly, it was modified to accommodate disabled sailors and the 2.4mR sailboat is now a Paralympic racing class. Due to the style of sailing, able bodied and disabled sailors can race on an even playing field racing against each other. NYC supports this even playing field. At NYC able bodied and disabled sailors alike train and race each other on 2.4mR sailboats. NYC is the home of the largest fleet of 2.4mR sailboats in North America and one of the largest in the world. Week night racing occurs on Monday nights, where you can see 6 to 10 2.4mR sailboats with able bodies and disabled sailors racing on the same start against each other. |
